COVENTRY resume their interrupted National One campaign at home to Tynedale this weekend with captain Scott Morgan confident his side have ‘found an identity’.

The Butts Park outfit have not played since January 12 having had their last two fixtures cancelled because of the cold snap.

That enforced break came at a bad time for Morgan and his team-mates as they were building momentum with three straight victories over Cinderford, Cambridge and Loughborough Students.

But the former Dragons second row is optimistic Cov can pick up where they left off, primarily because they have worked out what they are good at.

“We have found an identity,” the 34-year-old said. “We know what our strengths are, which we didn’t a couple of months ago, and we are playing to those strengths and challenging other teams to stop us.

“There is an abundance of drive in the squad, that has never been in doubt, but what we lacked was that bit of execution.

“But now we are playing a little bit more basic and within that structure we are giving the boys opportunities out wide, which is working well.”

Morgan also believes Coventry’s National One rivals will be just as affected by the loss of fixtures, only two matches in the entire division have been played in the last three weeks, and as long as they approach this weekend with the right attitude they should not be caught napping.

“It was quite nice to have a little bit of a break having played so many games but after one week you start getting a bit frustrated and missing it and I think the rest of the boys feel the same. We are champing at the bit.

“There is quite a nice buzz at the minute, we are doing quite well and definitely moving in the right direction.

“And all the other clubs are in the same boat, it’s not just us. If it was just us I would be a bit concerned but everyone is having to start afresh this weekend.
