Scott Morgan: I'm sorry for red.

By Scott Morgan, Coventry Telegraph.

THIS is the most difficult article I’ve had to write in my career. I would like to start by apologising to all the supporters, players and everyone involved at Coventry Rugby Club.

During Saturday’s game against Fylde I let myself down with actions I regret massively and, as a result of those actions, I received a red card resulting in me also letting my team-mates on the pitch down.

To say I’m embarrassed is an understatement as I should be leading by example having been given the honour of captaining the team, a role I am very proud of.

Yet again, I think Saturday was another game we should have won. With the boys playing some great rugby with 14 men and going into a 23-14 lead it seemed as though they were in control. Our set-piece was functioning well and we had a lot of field position.

But again in the closing stages of the match we seemed to be under a lot of pressure with Fylde dominating possession. A couple of penalties went against us and, to be fair, they kicked well into our 22 and were clinical in their execution and went away with the points.

This season to date has been very frustrating no doubt for the supporters, coaches and players alike as we are so close week in, week out but just can’t seem to finish these tight games.

This week was obviously more difficult for the boys due to my actions, and the fatigue factor no doubt played its part.

A true Rugby man. Blames himself, not others and apologises.

I don't blame Scott, i think he did what 99% of other players would have done when the fighting starts.

Which is I am surprised the club have punished him further, or have they had to be hard on him to placate the RFU ?

Sometimes.... isnt a red and the lost game punishment enough.

a red card is automatic suspension by the RFU but any punishment by the club before the RFU hearing is usually taken into consideration.
