Macclesfield 16 Coventry 13 by John Wilkinson.

DEJA vu for Coventry whose failure to close out a match came back to bite them yet again.

Leading 13-3 early in the second half after largely controlling the opening period, Cov looked well on course for a second successive National League One away win.

But they were rarely seen as an attacking force in the final half hour as Macclesfield clawed their way back and, with the penalty count rising against the visitors, snatched victory with a converted try as the game moved into added time and with Cov prop Bronson Ross in the sin bin.

It was another frustrating end for Cov, who had chances which they didn’t take before the break to put the game beyond reach and despite another strong defensive display were then made to pay right at the end by a Macclesfield side who, fighting to avoid relegation, seemed to want it just that little bit more and have now recorded six straight wins.
