Coventry Rugby are delighted to report that iconic back row forward Jacques Le Roux has re-signed for Coventry Rugby for the coming season 2013/14. South African born Jacques made an immediate impact in his first season in English rugby settling in to role as a play making No 8 forward, showing speed and ability in all aspects of the game.  Able to play anywhere in the back row he does prefer the No 8 jersey.  Now aged 28 Jacques came to Coventry after 6 seasons playing club rugby in Portugal, and more recently International Rugby for Portugal.

He welcomed the chance Coventry Rugby gave him in English rugby, and looks forward to the new season to help repay both the club and its supporters for their whole hearted support he has been given through this difficult season. This support was one of the reasons he was happy to sign on again.

In a season sadly curtailed by injury on International duty, and personal tragedy Jacques still made 13 appearances, scoring 4 tries, and with a number of MOM performances, until a broken arm  halted his progress.

Currently at home in Pretoria Jacques will be  returning in time to support his Coventry team mates in their last game of the season against  Ealing, as well as commencing  his own early pre-season  full fitness programme to make sure he is ready for the new season.

An attitude that has brought praise from Coventry Rugby’s Rugby Director Phil Maynard for his professionalism during a difficult season both on and off the field.

Taking time to adjust to the speed and physicality of the English game Jacques was just getting into his stride when his broken arm occurred. Enjoying his rugby at Coventry, he was devastated not to be able to play more, but is looking forward to the new season with renewed confidence   that the team will progress and has the ability to challenge at the top of the league.

Jacques feels that he is part of a small community here in Coventry, has settled in well and is most appreciative of the knowledgeable attitude and support he has received from the club’s fans. Matters have been helped by his fellow South African teammate Cliffie Hodgson who has also shown his faith in Coventry Rugby by signing on for another season.
