The Coventry Rugby side to meet Hull Ionians in their first ever meeting away  on Saturday 7th September kick off 3pm at Brantingham Park  has just been announced. 

It includes 7 new signings since last season including new captain signed from Crosskeys flanker Robert Nash.  Due to injury there was a late change on the bench as James Tyas was replaced by Geré Mareé.

Due to an injury crisis in the back row at Broadstreet club Coventry Rugby have sent Liam Munro and Gareth Turner to them on loan. Liam has been unable to train much with Coventry Rugby due to work commitments and Gareth Turner was out with an injury most of last season but is now back to fitness and both players require game time.

This looks like a very strong side, especially the back row. I have kept rather quiet on what type of season we are going to have, but I’ve got a very good feeling this year. We have certainly moved forward since the end of last season. I am very optimistic.

Hull Ionians have just signed 3 players on a dr loan scheme from Rotherham Titans with all three starting on Saturday.They are Toby Williams-fr,Toby Freeman and Max Argyle both flankers.

No Scott either not even on bench. Is he injured or does being head coach mean we will not be seeing much of him on the pitch? Surprised Greg not in squad but perhaps due to being absent fo a lot of the per season training. Not seen Will Hurrell this year so he must be in great form if he is keeping the road runner out! (Ian Clark). Best of luck to the team for tomorrow I will not be there so hope the update scores appear on the site

Should be interesting to see how the boys handle their first league challenge following the pre season run outs
It will also be good to see the fitness levels as our opposition like to play with ball in hand
I notice we also have just 1prop on the bench pretty surprising as I think the most the props have played so far is 60 mins
No Harry cassons he must be injured as I thought he played very well in jersey along with Greg Evans

I presume Greg and matt are injured, as I would have thought they would be part of the team, let alone squad? Or do we have a limit on the amount of 'foreigners' who can play!? ;-)

I hope the lads remember a rugby match lasts for 80 plus minutes..... not an hour.

We cannot allow another season of being "nearly men".

At this level your are only allowed 5 replacements so normally you select 1 prop and 1 hooker,plus 3 players to cover the other positions.
