Well the season is nearly upon us with just a final friendly at Ebbw Vale this season and hopefully the squad are prepared and ready to go. So all at Dragon's Den wish Rowland and the team the very best of luck

Off the field there are also a couple of things worth noting.

There will be a bus running to all home games from Oxford, and again Bleddyn has kindly agreed to subsidise this so the cost will remain at £10 return.

As a general rule buses will leave Oxford City centre three hours before kick-off, picking up at Thornhill 15 mins later and will return from ODP approximately an hour after kick-off.

For the clubs game against Bedford on 26th September, there will also be an event at ODP surrounding the England v Wales match at Twickenham. The bus will leave Oxford at 11am and return from ODP at 11pm , allowing those attending the match time to get back to ODP.

This will be a busy day at ODP so please note the following restrictions; holders of match tickets only will be restricted to the ground and outside bars, holders of event tickets for the marquee, will have access to the clubs match against Bedford but will not have access to the clubhouse, whilst season ticket holders and members will only have access to the clubhouse unless they purchase a separate ticket for the marquee.

A scrappy start, with some surprising upsets (Bristol, alas, may go without saying) for example Moseley beat Ebbw Vale 49-32 in a pre-season friendly and we struggled rather on Friday night. But as the season progresses, we should get into the try-scoring habit and get into the top four. Top position? Hm.

You say we struggled , but to be fair it was a big game for Ebbw and they defended well, but the reality is they only threatened our line once and whilst both sides looked a bit panicky and we didn't quite create off the back of our phase play, we were pretty solid and against a big set of forwards who's obvious tactics were to try and rough us up a bit, I thought we absorbed everything they threw at us pretty easily.
Joe Carlisle at 10 with Olly at 12 looked like a partnership that could blossom into something special for us this season.

Ebbw 7 v 22 London Welsh ie -15 but should have been much more
Ebbw 32 v 49 Moseley........ie +17 but Moseley leaked 32 points.

So I wouldn't read too much into it .

Bristol have only had one pre season game as they are treating the run up to the play offs as preseason in preparation foe the play offs , whilst we have had three reasonable run outs to test patterns , handbags etc.

coventry beat ealing yesterday as well which is interesting
I thought it was a bit harem scarum on friday and as we settle down to play the patterns rowland wants we should be better
I thought one of the characteristics of our last championship season was the pattern of play which was simple and effective
our back 5 will be strong again

I think Rowlands choice of available fixtures has worked well...just enough competitiveness from the opposition to allow match fitness and set moves without getting a thrashing and injuries along with a bit of handbag bonding

Y Drenewydd, yes that's fair comment as its the tries you leak as muvh as the tries you score that count at the. End of the season, and we were poor on both fronts last season.

The friendly fixtures are hard for supporters to learn much from as they can look like organised chaos. Fine for giving a run out and possibly spotting weak areas, and Ebbw Vale was a good chance of a match even though personally I thought it scrappy.

It's debatable whose forward tactics involved what. Let he who is without sin cast the first punch.

Was in Ebbw Vale, bought a Euro Millions ticket but still didn't win. Unfortunately can't make our first game at DONNY which will be the first time in at least 25 years since i missed our opening fixture of the season in a game that actually matters. Wasn't overly impressed with our performance, but then again these pre-season WARM-UPS don't really reflect a true picture of what is to come. C'MON YOU WELSH! PADDYTAF.
