Beware Pirates

Skipper missing

By Blues Brother
November 21 2014

No doubt Cornish Pirates will be looking to make a point - if not four or five - when we face them on Sunday. They narrowly won the last high scoring game in the B&I cup but then had the game taken off them for a carry on over scrums and replacements ..

This time it's league points at stake, and we are looking to carry on our recent improvement and ensure that, if there are any late winning scores, they go to the Blues.

Pirates are currently second bottom but are only six points behind Blues and we are up in sixth place. It's all very tight, and whoever wins this encounter will do themselves a power of good.

We will be without skipper Nick Fenton-Wells who was injured against Yorskhire Carnegie last time out.  Paul Tupai takes over, and he'll be at blindside with Buggea on the other flank.

The backs stay the same.

Blues: 15. Jim Wigglesworth 14. Pat Tapley 13. Ollie Dodge 12. Viliami Hakalo 11. Dean Adamson 10. Jake Sharp 9. Darryl Veenendaal  1. Camilo Parilli-Ocampo
2. Charlie Clare 3. Phil Boulton 4. Mike Howard 5. Ben Gulliver 6. Paul Tupai (capt) 7. Josh Buggea 8. Joe Vandermolen

Reps:  TJ Harris,  Tom Williams, Harry Wells, Hayden Thompson-Stringer,  Justin Blanchet, Peter White,  Henry Staff

Well the new Saracens centre was good while he lasted

Not only does he not appear this week we have loaned out Jared Saunders as cover at hooker. What about our cover

What is it about us do we get good money for loaning OUR players out to prem. clubs. Perhaps we need the money more than we need a good team

1/2 time here in sunny Cornwall. That Hallett lad looks useful with his boot. Perhaps we could sign him. Oops we already tried that didn't we.

65 points against 14 for - now who wants to discuss rugby or shall we just talk about our favourite films?

We keep going on about a full time squad, but if the money is
not there to attract the better players how is a full time squad going to help?

Something needs to be done and soon or else it will be the two dogs syndrome

We thought we did well against Leeds but let's not flatter ourselves,
even rock bottom Plymouth drew with them on Friday evening

Blues your team is not a bad one. I can tell you that most Pirates supporters did not know what to expect from our young (forget Paves) squad after surrendering at home to Nottingham. But today we were devastatingly good and few could have lived with that sort of pressure....we did get a few good bounces but our youngsters worked their socks off to strangle your attacks and attacked with real pace and skill.

Heads up, we bounced back, so can you.

Not sure if you are referring to players or coaches to face the axe tomorrow morning, Jonathan.

We barely have enough players to put out a team week by week when you factor in our kindness in loaning out our players to anyone who needs them and DRs who are conspicuous only by their absence. So, presumably it's not players?

So do you really imagine we would be better off without a couple of coaches?
Don't get me wrong - I am as gobsmacked by this incredibly bad result as everyone else but you need someone else to take over before you start wielding an axe.

GI wants to leave the club on it's knees so he can say that the clubs golden age was under his stewardship otherwise we wouldn't be in this mess!

It would take some pretty amazing coaches to achieve in 2 hours on 2 nights a week what everyone else in the league works on full-time.
