Yes a few changes but everyone is playing regular, would much rather have that than players coming in who haven't kicked a ball in anger since October?

Strong bench; enforced changes with fewer options, but still powerful. Wringing every drop out of the perennnial toops this season.

Bad day at the office or what! Three yellow cards, poor kicking and terrible decision making. What was Burns thinking of at the end? Only 2 points down and near the jersey 22, we should have been playing straight down the middle for a penalty or drop goal, but every time he got the ball he kept spinning it wide. All credit to Jersey for some excellent defence and much cooler heads on the day.

Totally agree with Artfulbadger - absolutely no game management shown at all. Twice in the final minutes we were given the opportunity to construct a drop goal chance but continued to play as if we were the team ahead. We were a man down yet thought we could create an overlap? Throughout the game we attempted to play rugby in the wrong areas of the field - need to adapt a amore pragmatic approach in such tight games. Also very disappointed with the loose play efforts of our starting props - both looked unfit and, to be honest, lazy.

The game management on the field today was abysmal. There were kicking opportunities in the first and second half that should have been taken. Discipline lapses allowed an average but beefy side to gain the ascendancy; we played right into their rolling maul hungry hands. Really poor display today; but on the bright side all other results went our way.

First match at Gr I have missed due to my Ruby wedding anniversary but your lads discipline today sounded woeful on the radio. Get a grip lads you could beat Bristol.

It is all in gods plan oh people of little faith - one result doth not the season make - God knows why he did not have a kicker on the park and why the 9 were poo both of them. JP on the wing and kicking and we would have won that game.

The better team definately won today, like others I thought our kicking game was off, some crucial lineouts lost from penalties we'd kicked to touch and 3 yellows with a red is never going to make things easy. Jersey's defence was superb, great line speed and very well organised, hard to fault. We certainly missed Jake at flyhalf and the interception try at the end just about summed up our day.
Lets not get too down-hearted, we are still 4th, a vast improvement over the last 2 seasons performances, we know we can play better, it was just a bad day at the office.

Agree , we handed them possession on two crucial occasions in our own 22, white slicing into touch and Buggea helping it in to touch from a missed catch. They scored shortly after each. Line out was not as secure as its been most of the season ( Flanagan?) . Draw comfort from the fact that some of the young lads are learning so lessons can be drawn on in future careers , at Saracens etc.

I thought we might have called up Jones for the long penalty at the end ( he was on wasn't he ?) , a long way but wind assisted. Also a penalty and conversion missed when I don't think they missed a kick.

It seems the only sensible way to resist a rolling maul , once it is set , is not to. We might have conceded an extra try but might we have scored more with 15 on the field for the whole game ?

Sets up our next meeting with them nicely , as ever , we know what to expect !

Place kicking poor - we should could have added 10 points - JP on the wing and taking the kicks when Jones is not starting? Was Jones fit ? But we all know I know nothing oh and both 9s were poor as was the fly half - no names

Naive is the best way I can describe yesterday's second-half performance and we had an unwelcome reminder of how poor our game management can be. Jersey looked, and were, the better side and deserved their win.
A top four spot is not yet guaranteed and, with Jersey to play once again, nor is a semi-final play-off place in the B&I Cup.

Clever line-out work by Jersey. Letting the catcher down slowly giving more time (only a fraction of a second extra) to set and preventing us from countering

We were beaten by the rolling maul, which is virtually impossible to stop without giving penalties away and defensive line speed,(offside a lot of the time).
We forget that Booj is also a kicker, and Steffan can play 10.

I take it you are jesting by mentioning Pritch JW ?, his time has come and gone. There is enough strength in depth without having to rely on him for kicking duties, face facts he is no longer an option , we have to move forward with the new young breed, and I don't include Dorrian in that group either.

I think the expression is that we were 'turned over' by a truly professional side.....in both senses of the word....
Jersey as many professional teams do........'played the ref'......the comments on Rolling Maul about the ref, a tip which could not have been missed by them coming from one of their supporters...........and who can blame Jersey.

Dayvaux.......thanks for explaining the reasoning behind the Jersey line outs.....nearly 70 and I am still learning......!

Countering the rolling maul......Jersey at the death of the game dealt with our 'effort' at a rolling maul by not contesting and stepped back, thus forcing us to play the ball......(at least that's what it looked like from the stand)......why don't we copy them in the future?

Yes a 'bad day' at the office (but I have been retired to long to remember what that was like...)

James P on the park would have given the team options - poor kicking - give James p a shot - on the park he could have won us the game - next thing you will be saying Boozy is that Toops should be playing the whole 80 minutes - don't know about JW needing to take a pill others should take more water with the hard stuff.

JP does not offer any options anymore BFY, there is enough strength in depth at the club now that we don't need to rely on him. Unless you can correct me I can't see any aspect of his game that is better than booj, jones , oconnor etc etc, and certainly wouldn't consider him a wingers berth ahead of tapley, adamson blanchet or perkins

I'm glad they looked fit when last you saw them, that's more than tey were during their time at Bedford.

artfulbadger sums the Jersey game up perfectly for me. I would only add that Stefan Jones should have been brought on earlier and played at fly half!

Was Jones fit? The only reason for not doing so.

If he was fit enough to sit on the bench then I think that answers your question.
