Mike Rayer's boys are on the way. Winning away on the first day against a home side full of expectation and eagerness to please their supporters is never easy but we did it at Nottin gham in some style - and then when we went down to 13 men we toughed it out.
The 27-21 scoreline suggests the game was closer than it was for much of the first hour or so.
In fact we were leading 27-14 and looking comfortable until Oli Curry and Fraser Strachan were sin-binned. The centre had cossed the whitewash earlier with winger Ryan Hutler getting two tries.
But the game will be remembered for that never say die defence. Joe Green put in a big try-saving tackle on David Williams in the last minute, and when we were back to 15 no less than 13 minutes of added time stretched us to the limit.
Notts finally crossed in the very last seconds when Millett nipped over with O’Leary converting with the last kick of the game.
Phew. Lets hope for a more conventional victory over Jersey at home this week but games between these two sides are normally high scoring.
