Blues Plundered

Was the win over Trailfinders a false dawn? On the face of it the defeat at Goldington Road by another high flying side in Pirates would indicate that it may well have been.

The Blues had to defend heroically at times as Pirates showed their attacking flair in their 20-12 win, but we did have our chances.

It was testament to to the Blues' character that we went into a 12-0 lead in the second half courtesy of taking what was on offer and denying the visitors on numerous occasions.

Howver, something had to give and Pirates managed to get 10 points on the board as we started to give away too manypenalties. The clock was ticking, but not fast enough as we entered what some of us like to call "injury  time."

There was almost ten minutes of it and that was enough for  Pirates to slot a pen, to put them in front, and then a converted try with the last play.

The best team won but Blues can take a lot from the defensive effort which was immense.
