One year on from the Rugby World Cup 2015 final the tournament’s legacy continues to inspire, with 190 new men’s teams launched this season, in large part due to the success of England Rugby’s Return to Rugby programme. 

This year’s Return to Rugby follows on from last year’s Sport England-funded inaugural programme which saw 2,500 people sign up for sessions and 800 go on to play regular, competitive rugby after being reintroduced back into the game. More information here

England Rugby has announced a charity partnership with Sport Relief with an ambition to raise £4 million over four years to support projects and programmes that use rugby to help change people’s lives and as a tool for social good.Money raised through this partnership will be awarded as grants by Comic Relief to charitable projects and programmes, through the Try for Change Fund, which is a fully managed fund by Comic Relief

Andy Cosslett has been elected Chairman of the Rugby Football Union  Board following today’s RFU Council meeting.   He will take up the position with immediate effect replacing Bill Beaumont who became Chairman of World Rugby earlier this year. 

Cosslett previously held an Independent Non-Executive Director role on the RFU Board and oversaw the delivery of the biggest Rugby World Cup in history as Chairman of England Rugby 2015.

The 61 year old has a lifelong association with the game and played the sport for 25 years. He is currently Vice President of Weybridge Vandals.

Martin Haag has named his England U20 elite player squad (EPS) for the 2016/17 season which will see them compete in the Six Nations and look to defend their World Rugby U20 Championship in Georgia.  England U20s Squad for 2016/17 Season

The Rugby Football Union today laid out its intent for the women’s game over the next four years.

As England Women look to defend their Women’s Rugby World Cup title next year, the RFU outlined:   Red Roses to lead the Way
