Kenya Harlequins Update 15/08

By Herbert Mwachiro
August 15 2006

Kenya Harlequins face Mwamba in a repeat of the 1988 Enterprise Cup Final on Saturday 19th August. Immediate former Kenya coach, Tom 'Crusader' Odundo, faces current Kenya coach Manuel Fanuel Okoth in the final of the most prestigious and oldest (76 year old) East African rugby competition. The less said the better, this Saturday promises to be fireworks as Quins face Mwamba in a repeat of the 1988 Enterprise Final. Old Quins will surely recall that game with fond memories as it ended an almost 25 year wait without a major honour. Quins since then have scooped the Enterprise in 95, 96, 99 and 2003. This Saturday the faithful from 4pm will be praying the gods above will be wearing their Quins colours.

Both teams got the better of each other during the season leaving the score at 1-1. Quins Coach Odundo will want to prove to manuel that he is the most qualified coach around as he leads his charges on Saturday. Okoth after Kenya's poor showing against Uganda (Kenya lost!!!!) on Saturday will be trying to redeem his image in the rugby circles. Both are former Kenya internationals having played each other from schooldays to club rugby to international rugby where they both shared national honours.

Come all within, Come all without and lets be there Saturday to cheer up the lads from 4pm. Put on your best Quins shirt/outfit and come to the club. Good luck to the lads!

We are almost at the top of the mountain!!!!
