Good to have rugby back after a 3 week break.

There are a number of changes from the side that ran out against Bedford with Bruce Houston about to make his debut for the Pirates at Fly-Half.
John Stevens is back from Injury and will take a place on the bench, whilst Alex Everett skippers the side.

Pirates’ joint head coach Alan Paver said:
“Caldy found their feet in their first season playing in the Championship. They recorded seven wins in the league, including narrowly taking our scalp at their Paton Field ground – as they did that of Ealing Trailfinders – and late in the season they ran us close at home.

We know what they are about and know too that we will have to be on our mettle. However, we are excited after our enforced break and the guys are chomping at the bit for a return to meaningful action.”

A welcome bonus point win against a dogged Caldy side who kept playing for the full 80 minutes.
The pirates looked good with the ball in hand playing at pace and often putting together a number of phases which will please the coaches.
The penalty count today will be a concern which gave Caldy plenty of possession and territory.
With a young and developing squad there are still plenty of areas to work on if we are going to finish in the top 4.
A difficult trip away to Ampthill next week will be a good test.

An excellent result and well refereed, both sides gave a good account of themselves and some of the handling was slick. Game on game we seem to be improving and no doubt will climb the table but with so few sides in our league and too many gaps in the season just what will be our true potential will be hard to determine.

Very impressed with the performance today. Caldy are a very decent team and it's good to score six tries against them. Our back play was a very slick and the forwards performed well against a bigger, heavier pack. Good to see Kyle and Marlen involved in the warm up and John Stevens coming on in the second half.
Very tough trip next weekend, so we'll need to be even better.

An enjoyable game CB and as you say well refereed.

A good result for Dicky's 78th birthday

Stalwart as you say it will be tough next weekend at Ampthill. Pitch not good. The outcome will be on how many Saracens players they callup.

Looking forward to Saturday as I will be in attendance at Amptill and will be setting off early should there be issues on the motorway as the last time I set out for Amptill. As mentioned Pirates need to heed the penalties that they concede as the person in the middle will be ready prepped for the team giving these away.

This weekend is a good result and we have some tough ones still to come.
