It’s Ladies Day at the Pirates on Sunday as the boys look push on and cement their 2^nd place in the league.

The only change in the backs sees a return to fitness for wing Robin Wedlake, whilst in the forwards Marlen Walker starts at tight-head prop and skipper John Stevens moves from blindside flanker to number 8, with Hugh Bokenham joining Will Britton in the second row.

This will be another tough game against Ampthill who have had a couple of good results recently.
Hopefully home advantage in front of a good crowd will prove decisive and we can get another win.

We are certainly capable of a 5 pointer here, but we will need to be on our mettle to achieve it. Discipline and set pieces will be the decisive factor.

As mentioned by CB, DISCIPLINE will be required as we tend to let ourselves down in this department and Sir is rehearsed for the Pirates regarding this as shown over the season.

This will be a tough game as all games are so no dropping off please. Treat Ampthill with respect and all been well 5 points could be ours. Hope all have a good day and a good turnout on the day.

After a disjointed opening 20 minutes where Ampthill scored an early converted try the pirates gradually worked their way back into the game to finish with a bonus point win.
The coaches won't be happy with how we started the game as a number of unforced errors gifted the visitors possession and territory.
Thankfully our defence held firm as we struggled to get our attacking game firing.
Once we got ourselves into the lead we looked the better side but failed to assert overall control against an Ampthill side who never gave up.
Pundits always say that the sign of a good side is those who still find a way to win without playing well.
We now have another week off before 2 big games away to Doncaster and then home to Ealing.

The key to it was, again, our rock solid defence. After the slip-up in the first minute we were very secure despite coming under a lot of pressure from an Ampthill team with some very dangerous looking backs.
Not a great performance, but job done and 5 points in the bag takes us to second place in the table - not something many of us predicted at the start of the season.
