The Pirates welcome back several recently injured players. A fully fit Tom Georgiou will partner Joe Elderkin in the centre, and in the pack, flanker Alex Everett and lock Eoin O’Connor are ready again for action.
Other changes from the team that started against Bedford Blues sees scrum half Dan Hiscocks and prop James French given starting roles, along with full-back Iwan Price-Thomas, whose two previous league appearances have been off the bench.
Cornish Pirates: 15. Iwan Price-Thomas 14 Matt McNab 13 Tom Georgiou 12 Joe Elderkin 11 Arthur Relton 10 Bruce Houston 9 Dan Hiscocks 1 Billy Keast 2 Morgan Nelson 3 James French 4 Charlie Rice 5 Eoin O’Connor 6 Alex Everett 7 Will Gibson 8 Hugh Bokenham (captain).
Replacements: 16. Harry Hocking 17 Billy Young 18 Jay Tyack 19 Josh King 20 Tomi Agbongbon 21 Cam Jones 22 Iwan Jenkins 23 Will Trewin.
Good news to see these players fit and available for selection. Forwards coach Joe Walsh said earlier in the week that the last 2 weeks has been mainly unopposed training due to the lack of numbers. As well as John Stevens, Hallam Chapman and Milo Hallam have both picked up long term injuries.
Hopefully we have enough strength across the squad to get a much needed win on the road.
Cambridge 29 Pirates 22
A last minute converted try by Cambridge gives them a bonus point win. Our line out and discipline cost us both field position and territory as we ended the game with 14 men.
We are now 11th in the league as we head into a week off before the start of the premiership cup matches.
It's a bit of a recurring nightmare - three games in a row lost with the last play of the game (or almost at full time) when we seemed to be heading for a win.
We must get behind the team and give them our backing - it's when the going gets tough that true supporters show their colours.
