X-Ray shows scrum-half’s ankle is not broken


No Break !

The Celtic Crusaders have been boosted by the news that scrum-half Matty Smith did not break his ankle during Sunday's 27-22 defeat at Warrington. The promising young scrum-half looked in a bad way after exiting the weekend’s action with the injury – but thankfully does not face a long lay-off in the treatment room.

John Dixon was left to admit things "didn't look good" after the Warrington defeat as Smith's ankle underwent close examination.

However, X-rays have shown that Smith has not suffered a break and the scrum-half is eager to return to action as quickly as possible.

He will undergo an MRI scan to see if there is any ligament damage - and the player will certainly miss Friday's big Challenge Cup clash at Hull KR.

However, Smith has targeted Cru's Easter fixtures for his return. He said: "It would be great to be back for the Harlequins game on Easter Monday as I know that's going to be a big game at the Brewery Field."
