My Dad played for the Blue Dragons for the entire existance of the club, I used to love heading to Cardiff of a weekend from Widnes and stayin in the Marriott hotel, it was like a holiday every other weekend
Nanson I'm glad you enjoyed your trips to south wales and greatful for your dad for being a part of the team that started my interest in this great game, I was lucky to be able to follow them both home and sometimes away and have many fond memories.Which one of those great men was your dad?
Hi can anybody help my dad Adrian Barwood played on the wing for the blue dragons and wakefield trinity before that. Its his 60th birthday coming up and i've been trying to find some video footage to suprise him with. Please if any body out there has some with him on it please let me know you can contact me on 01443 814551 or 07788110874 thanks.
I went to both of the games against Salford. The day before the first game at Cardiff I went to Coventry City to watch Man U. the game at Salford was midweek and the referee had an escort off the pitch cos the Salford fans wanted to kill him! I still have both programmes.
Ive got all the Cardiff Blue Dragons home programmes for the 1981-82 season, and most of the home programmes for the following 2 seasons, before they became Bridgend, but don't ask me for them as I collect them.
Alex having watched your father and your uncle Dave playing on many occassions I wish there was some video footage of those days but I think you may be unlucky I don't remember any of the games being televised and they didn't record games in those days like they do now, Video recorders were only just out in circulation but now and again they used to show snippets on the local news so try writing to HTV and BBC Wales they may have something in their archives
Or failing that write a letter to Dave Watkins at Newport Gwent Dragons he was the coach for the Blue Dragons and may have access to something
