Whitehaven boss David Seeds was not happy with his players despite their victory in South Wales on Sunday. The Scorpions rallied late on to claim a bonus point in a game which was won 22-18 by the visitors.
A late brace of tries from Joe Burke bagged a bonus point for the Scorpions and left Whitehaven boss Seeds fuming with his team's backline.
He said: “Our defensive effort was not good, and I think the players know that,”
The coach added that he wanted to see his players perform "two or three times" better in their upcoming fixtures.
Mark Rowley's Scorpions, meanwhile, will be looking for improvements too as they target their first win of the season at home to Gateshead on Sunday.
I sat in front of the directors from Whitehaven and had a good bit of banter with them, they agreed that one of their tries was a knock on and without this we would have won. They were very disappointed about their teams performance, I think thats because they come down expecting a big win and although we weren't brilliant we contained them and especially in the first half totally outplayed them just shame we couldn't score with the constant sets of 6 on their try line. We need to learn how to finish and force home our advantage
