Shaw on the Wing

On The Bench

Rob Andrew has announced his first surprise of the season with Joe Shaw starting on the wing against the MacFalcons at Jedforest tonight. Wilkinson will be among the cast of thousands on the bench so Walder will be at 10 with Botham resuming at full back.

Shaw was signed from Saints where he was a regular full back so his inclusion on the wing is an interesting development. But how much we can read into it remains to be seen.

The pack looks like it could well be the one which kicks off the season against Wasps in three weeks time ... no doubt new forwards coach Andrew Blades want to see them in action for the first time.
