One match ban

Newcastle Falcons' and Scotland International Andrew Mower has been banned for one club match, following his third Zurich Premiership yellow card in the Newcastle Falcons vs Leicester Tigers match on March 16th. Mower was singled out by referee Tony Spreadbury & sin-binned for throwing a punch in the Newcastle - Leicester when what appeared to be a mass brawl broke out in the second half. The decision by to penalise just one player seemed harsh at the time and from the televised replay of the incident it is difficult to apportion blame.

Andy Mower's other trips to the sin-bin took place in the Sharks away debacle on January 3rd, and on February 7th when Newcastle Falcons beat Leeds Tykes at Headingley.
Mower will miss the Falcons' trip down to Gloucester for their next Zurich Premiership match on April 12th. Without doubt since his return from The Borders Andy Mower has been one of the hardest working and influential Falcons players and his presence will be sorely missed. However being realistic of all the remaining Falcons' matches then this is the best one to miss, as Gloucester are riding high at the top of the table and only a very brave soul would bet against them winning the match on their home turf.
