Get 'em off! Newcastle Falcons want your old rugby kit. It's time to give up those boots you've been hanging on to in the hope that one day you'll play again, when deep down you're happier propping up the bar than the scrum! As announced on the Newcastle Falcons Official Website the club are supporting the SOS Romania - Kit Appeal, part of the IRB Kit Aid programme. Kit Aid collects unwanted second hand and new rugby kit from schools, clubs, referees societies and kit manufacturers in the UK and Ireland and sends it to emerging rugby nations such as Romania. The initiative is supported by many of rugby's big names, including Falcons' own captain, Jonny Wilkinson and England captain Martin Johnson.

What to bring & where to hand it over
The club have asked that fans bring any unwanted kit that is still in reasonable condition to the Northampton Saints game on Easter Sunday. Kit can be then dropped off into containers in the South and West stands.
        What use is old kit?
There are thousands of youngsters in Romania, Georgia,Bulgaria and Moldavia (and other countries) who want to play rugby but their parents simply cannot afford the kit. There is one junior rugby club in one country that has four junior teams but only one set of shirts. So on match day after each game the shirts are handed on to the next team.
The aims of IRB Kit Aid
            • Through the sheer enjoyment of playing rugby, help to improve the quality of people's/children's lives in less advantaged areas of the world and promote the worldwide family of rugby and the bonds / friendships that playing rugby can uniquely bring.
              • To make rugby a global game by promoting the wonderful game of rugby around the world, bringing in new styles of play, make the Rugby World Cup less of a five horse race and get rugby into the Olympics.
                  • If you don't have any spare kit, but would still like to help out there are other ways to get involved, from becoming a regional kit collector to helping to sponsor transport costs! All details can be found on the SOS Romania website - www.sosromaniarugby.org
