Paddy Green reports on NRSA Touch Rugby
By Paddy Green
August 9 2002
London Irish Supporters Club entered a team for the first Supporters Club Association Touch Rugby Tournament, backed by the NRSA, on 13th July 2002.
LISC came a close second to London Welsh (despite Paul (Fred) Gustard playing for us - and in my shirt!) - who were a practiced TRT I fear!
We had a great day out - many of us sun burnt - some crippled (thanks P69 for the physio)
Anyway the day was in aid of Sport Relief and even though it was close to the JC announcement, the sponsorship was mighty (not unexpected by the LISC community I might add!)
Prior to the tournament 7 people took sponsorship forms and the final returns are as follows
SubTel £121.00
Bisach £160.00
Christine £200.00
Geraldine £138.00
GMC LI £124.50
Griff £125.00
Me (PG) £600.00
Many thanks to all on the MTP eve at Mollys £450 raised in this pub alone!
Total £1468.50
This is a fantastic amount from 7 sponsorship forms and a BIG THANK YOU to all those who did the sponsoring and an even BIGGER THANK YOU to those that did the collecting !
After the 18th of August, I will have a big cheque (not only monetary value but physical in size!) to do an official presentation from LISC to Sport relief.
Blo*dy brilliant effort on everyones part - THANK YOU ALL
