COVENTRY centre Greg Evans insists he is happy to keep winging it as long as the team continues to benefit.

The Welshman has spent most of the season in the No. 13 shirt but just before Christmas was moved the left wing to accommodate the recalled Callum MacBurnie.

That coincided an upturn in performances from the National One outfit who went on to win their next four matches with a settled back-line that featured Cliffie Hodgson at full back and Will Maisey at outside half.

The last couple of matches have not followed that pattern, Cov have lost a mud-fight to Rosslyn Park and a last-minute choker at Richmond in their last two outings, but the feeling remains that they have finally found the right combination behind the scrum.

And Evans says he is content to be part of the solution. “I would love to be back in the centre but I am just happy to be playing because there’s good competition for places,” he said.

“We’ve been playing well recently and the sport isn’t just about pleasing yourself and playing where you want to every time, it’s about what’s good for the whole team.

“I am not going to nag at the coaching staff, the coaches all know what they are doing and why they are picking certain players in certain positions and it seems to be working. I am just going to get my head down and keep working.”
