Scrum halfs sign for Coventry Rugby.

Coventry Rugby are pleased to inform their supporters that they have signed two scrum halfs for the coming season. Louis Silver comes in from Championship side Doncaster Knights as their 6th new signing, whilst Lewis Barker has signed on again for Coventry.

Louis Silver, aged 22 comes with a wealth of experience despite his age. He attended Worcester Academy and made his debut for Worcester Warriors in season 2010/11, which also included a spell out on loan at Championship side Moseley. Since then Louis joined Championship side Bristol making 9 appearances in season 2011/12, and 10 for another Championship side Doncaster Knights last season.

With the retirement of Nathan Jones from senior rugby to enable him to concentrate on his business, the recruitment of Louis will make the position of scrum half a competitive one.

Lewis Barker, having been one of Coventry Rugby’s most consistent performers over the past three seasons has delighted Coventry Rugby by signing on again for what will be his fourth season. Last season despite missing some games through a broken jaw, Lewis still managed 20 games including 17 starts and scored 2 tries.

With Lewis already a proven performer at Coventry Rugby the signing of Louis Silver will bring a competitive edge to the coming season.

As I posted previously, we need championship quality players to get out of this division and both Louis and Lewis fit into this catagory.

These signings together with the new back division should dramatically improve decision making and enable the team to get over the winning line, unlike last time when we lost so many points at the death.

Promising....(Sm151)

Ealing ran the show from 9&10 pacey outside backs and a well drilled desiplined pack

Good to see Lewis sign up again. Look forward to seeing Louis. Best wishes also to Nathan on his retirement from rugby, and good luck with his new career
