Gloucester played a numbers game as they hammered Harlequins at Kingsway, and six was their lucky number as they produced the sort of performance that has been threatening for some time as they won 46-6, a score that included six tries and a result that moved them into sixth place in the Guinness Premiership. Fans who suffered a stuttering first half to the season were in seventh heaven.

Given the sort of service he thrives on, James Simpson-Daniel scored a hat trick, the other tries coming from Lesley Vainikolo, Tim Molenaar and Tom Voyce. Quins resisted well until the second half, when they just crumbled, JSD scoring two of his tries in the last few minutes.
With Nicky Robinson kicking two penalties and converting three tries and Tim Taylor converting two more, it was an afternoon that went a very long towards consigning bad memories from earlier in the season to the dim and distant past.
And Ian McGeechan hasn’t even started to show his influence yet … or has he?
Glaws coach Bryan Redpath told the BBC: "We finished off every opportunity. It was a great effort from all of the players.

"We got better as the game went on, and not letting in a try built our confidence.
"We knew that it was key to get our set pieces right because we have a team structure and individuals that are dangerous when allowed to play."
The Glaws pack dominated the game from start to finish, and as Redpath says, when they get the ball with a bit of time and space, Glaws have the back to punish opponents.
Redpath joined 11 of his players in extending his Glaws contract on Friday, and told the club website: “We have a long term vision here at the club and we're striving to put the pieces in place to give Gloucester the best possible chance of long term success.
"I truly believe that we're moving in the right direction and the players who have signed new contracts recently obviously feel that way too.”

Well, all the signs were there against Quins and the GP table makes more pleasant reading than it has all season.

Quins aren’t the strongest team in the Premiership, but the table showed before this game that they were better than Glaws, who have now jumped over them into sixth place.

The gaps above look wide, with Wasps and London Irish five and 11 points respectively above them, and each with a game in hand.

Glaws have nine more games to play, and a lot of points are at stake for them and their rivals.

Congratualtions Glaws, it looked like a fantastic victory on the hightlights. I hope it is a sign of things to come for the rest of the season, except for when you visit sixways of course

Have to be pleased with that and it is very welcome to see Glaws finally being prepared to play again. Confidence and momentum are big things and it is all going to be tested at Welford Road on Saturday!
