Let's sign off with a last-day win, Glaws

Jonny W - backed by Glaws

The curtain comes down on another season of frustration and failure to reach their true potential for Gloucester when they play in what could turn out to be a rugby wake at relegated Worcester on Saturday. But Glaws need to go out with a bang and, while the home team and fans are in mourning, they need to look ahead.

Yes, the season overall has not been a good one and yes, there is a lot of room for improvement.
But it’s not ALL been bad – the second half of the campaign has had its moments, and as a team Glaws have had their moments, too.
The building blocks are there, Bryan Redpath has had a season to get used to being THE coach rather than just one of the coaches, and hopefully by now the players are aware of what he wants from them to turn the potential into achievement.

Next season is the one which will tell us whether BR is the man to bring back the good days – he’s had this season to settle in and to make his mark on the club.

We’ve had two mediocre seasons on the trot now and while many a club would give their eye teeth for that, it’s not what Glaws and the fans are used to.

There’s still a chance, of course, that Glaws will qualify via the back door for next season’s Heineken Cup, and that indeed would be an achievement, albeit an achievement depending on a mixture of other teams’ results and red tape.

There is a question mark, though, against whether being in the Heineken would be a good thing or a bad thing. Overall, surely it’s good to be a positive to get the chance to compete against the best from Europe as well as the best from England.
So come on Jonny W and come on Toulon.

It’s important, though, that Glaws end a season in which their away form has not been good with a win, and a good one at that – after all, Wuss are already doomed and shouldn’t pose too many problems.

Should they?
