So this is it – Friday 13th beckons. The game we've been waiting for since September, the biggest game of the season, possibly the biggest game in our club's history, and with all the rumours going around about our respective financial situations and next year's Premiership, I'd suggest this could be the biggest league game in the history of English rugby. Bristol v Newcastle. We go into this game with an important advantage, seven points to be precise, over our relegation rivals, meaning that even with another nine games to go, but the fact is that with us and Bristol (and Leeds) seemingly a long way behind the other nine top sides, neither of us can count on many more victories this season so a win should see us safe.
A defeat on the other hand would leave us between two and four points ahead, a margin Bristol are capable of overhauling in just one matchday. So our vital win over Gloucester last month, on the same day Bristol lost to Saracens, does not make this long-awaited encounter at the Memorial Stadium any less important for us.
A win is imperative, because if we get relegated I can see us not coming back and we don't want to give our hosts any chance of overhauling us later in the season.
Bristol have asked their supporters to make a lot of noise and cheer their team to a win. Therefore, I would ask all Falcons in the crowd to do their part too, I wish I could be in the stands with you but I will instead be trying to retain myself from screaming at the pitch and deafening Kevin and Smithy in the commentary box. Anyone listening shouldn't expect me to add too much technical insight on Friday, but there will be a lot of passion.
Although we are (presumably) still without Jonny Wilkinson, Carl Hayman should be in the team, and Johnno willing Noonie will be available, though don't put it past the Master to leave him on the bench / at home because “we've trained all week with Tulip and May/insert name here in the centre”.
Sorry for that, we really need positive energy. We haven't won at Bristol since December 1997, more than 11 years ago, so we're due a win there, and there'll never be a better time to get one.
80 minutes of agonising, terrifying, gut-wrenching tension. Can't blOOdy wait!!

I might change my mind after I've seen the Master's selection of course.
Started work this week so can't make it back to my good ole home town. Shame really because one way or t'other (hopefully a win for us) I can't see the trip being on for next season.
I will be tuned in on Friday evening.Looking forward to the banter online with Anneke,Mally and co.

Two seasons ago, when we got all the luck going, we beat you by getting given a last minute penalty try as we tried to get over in the corner. That was robbery, because it was a PT the conversion was easy for us to win by 2 points, had we gone over in the corner I doubt it would have been converted!
Walking back up to our Wellington pub after the game a car load of cops screeched up to a house, sirens blazing, they piled out into the house.
One of our group said a Falcons fan had probably just reported a robbery and they went to the wrong place, a great moment from happier times for both our clubs.

Your fans were magnificent and deserved that performance form your team, your no 7 had a fantastic game.
Thank you for forcing us into a situation where our management cannot hide or disguise the truth any more, our club is in a dreadful state and us fans have been let down very badly indeed.
Good luck for the rest of the season, you deserve it after tonights performance.

One of them felt that it could be the end of the club as we now know it. You could tell in his voice and his face how utterly dejected he was. They were such a decent set of supporters who had just seen their team ripped apart at home and now face an uncertain future.
Nearly every one of them as they left the bar shook our hands and congratulated us on our win.
As I say, I felt so sorry for them.
