Volunteers from the grassroots
of English rugby are being given the chance to dine with Clive
Woodward's England team before they fly off to the Rugby World Cup
this autumn.
The England players will be
given a glittering send-off at a dinner held in a marquee on the
Twickenham pitch on September 17 and four club volunteers will be
among the specially-invited guests.
The Rugby Football Union are
looking for nominations from Clubs,
Referee Societies and Constituent bodies
around the country for the four lucky volunteers who have made an
outstanding contribution to rugby.
The volunteers may be
coaches, referees, groundsmen or tea ladies but each will have made an
important contribution in one of the following areas:
*Shown innovation or creativity
in volunteering and broken new ground.
*Created something worth
replicating elsewhere.
*Inspired others.
*Used their energy, commitment
and enthusiasm to raise awareness and resources.
*Shown a devotion or willingness
to develop talent in other areas.
*Demonstrated leadership in
creating and developing projects.
*Used skills and influence to
give others opportunities.
*Devoted time to train and work
with others, especially young people with disabilities and people from
disadvantaged backgrounds.
*Created a skill or service
which is sustainable.
The deadline for nominations is
August 26 and successful candidates will be informed by September 5.
