Rod's Look at the no vote councillors, their wards and their majoritys at the last election
Following the disappointing vote at the Full Council on Tuesday 15th May,
I have looked at the details of the ‘No’ vote Councillors, giving the wards which they represent, their political allegiance and the size of their majority at the last election.
Keep these details for next May

Abstentions
Burden, Currie, Double, Harvey, Ridgers, Robertson and Toms (Although these are members of the Cabinet, they could vote, but chose not to.)
Pat Harvey could vote I suppose as she is Lady Chairman.
Baily (Ludgvan) although stating that she was a Pirates’ season ticket holder, was allowed to speak and vote, chose not to speak but did vote in favour.
Lewarne (Penzance East) was there for part of the debate, but had to leave the chamber before the vote.

Sorry Ladies and Gents - In my rush I read two lines together. Ferguson should be on there in place of Evans for Truro Trehaverne. What I must have done is to read 'Evans' off the list, and then slipped a line and put in FF's details.
I will have to look up Evans' details and report or get Geoff to replace this list with a fresh one.
I have also been advised on a couple of other points. I was under the impression as stated that the Cabinet members could not vote. This is not the case, they did not want to.
I also said that Irene Baily of Ludgvan did not speak and did not vote. She was in fact allowed to speak and vote, chose not to speak, but did vote 'for'.

Seven con's there with small double figure majoritys could easily be removed put an INDEPENDENT in to those and it would more than likely change the result ,and remember it si a good financial crack to take a seat .

Evans is Mayor of Falmouth - just been sworn in for the tenth (and last?) time. He represents me in Falmouth, Gyllyngvase. No email address, snail mail on its way!

I cant understand why the members of the County Cabinet cannot vote. Surely members of the Cabinet at Westminster vote when the Division Bell rings.

As per my post above, they were told that (in this instance) they could - 3 did! Read Cllr. Wallace's blog!
1908 for the simple reason, how many of the councillors come from other parts of England who come down for a easy life and do not want thing's to change. We also know a lot of Cornish do not like change. It would be nice to know how many Cornish voted for the S4C, and how many not Cornish voted for.
And Ferguson only scraped into power with a majority of 6 - not exactly a mandate.
Easy to unseat next time round!!

Lord Teverson may have a poor attendance record but still picks up £12,000 plus expenses a year funded by Cornish Taxpayers.Nice little earner!!
Ah but the daily attendance allowance at the House of Lords is far better..check his attendance there...

Thanks Jan, it goes to show that the voting was political all along, as we knew it would be. There was very little if any thought given to the actual topic and its consequence to the economy of Cornwall. The statement early on that to vote for the Stadium would be political suicide seems to have had effect and made cowards of just about all of the Conservative/Lib-Dem councillors. I know which way I shall be voting at the next local elections, and it ain't either of the two mentioned.
Unfortunately as far as the Conservative Party is concerned it was not about the Stadium for Cornwall. It was about the power struggle for Leadership of the party in Cornwall. Alec Robertson was "FOR" and Fiona Ferguson was "AGAINST" the Stadium project and she won with a big majority.
After next May elections Fiona could be the leader running Cornwall or sooner do not forget she is meeting with Pickles next week to try a delay the Langarth Developement. No Langarth no land to build the Stadium on.Perhaps she has taken over from Roberson already behind the scenes!We shall know on the 21st of June when Pickles makes the decision on supporting housing and jobs or returning Cornwall back to the dark times.
