Arwel Robson at 10 is the only change from the starting XV that featured in the 42-14 win against Exeter Chiefs last Friday.
On the bench Max Norey and Rusiate ‘Rus’ Tuima should make their home debuts, whilst long-serving prop Marlen Walker will make his 150th appearance for the Pirates.

Really looking forward to getting the season underway. Fingers crossed the boys can reproduce a similar performance to the one against Exeter to get us off to a winning start.

Utter disgrace. Even the rail strikes have been postponed. Once again the RFU shoots itself in the foot.
I think it's a good way to show respect - we can all do it together.

After a bright opening 20 minutes by the pirates where they dominated possession and territory they eventually broke down a determined Richmond defence to score out wide .
Richmond got themselves back into the game and were awarded a penalty try just before the break after Rory Parrata was yellow carded for deliberately knocking the ball dead.
A couple of well worked set piece moves saw the pirates increase their lead to 21-7 only for Richmond to intercept a pirates attack on their 22 to score by the posts in the last few minutes.
A disappointing end to a mixed performance by the pirates against a determined Richmond side.
There is a lot to work on for this new squad ahead of next Sunday's game away to Nottingham.

The interception at the end was a 14 point turn around - had the pass gone to hand it would have given us the BP. Richmond defended well, but they were definitely running out of steam in the last quarter. This squad will take time to gel, but we defended strongly and scored 3 lovely tries, so can't complain.
What's happened to the full match report on the official Pirates we site?? It's strange not to see it by now, after 14 hours after the game.
To reply to Bolingey Pirate , yesterday was another long working day for many of us and by the time I was clear of certain other match associated commitments to compile the match report it would have taken me to midnight and beyond. Anyway, after about four to five hours sleep - and having had little more the night before, I was up early this morning to complete the report in reasonable time which was then promptly posted by 11am. In general it is easier to get match reports promptly posted earlier after Saturday and Sunday games and I would like to think that the service we have conscientiously managed to provide over many years stands up well.

Pirates started out very strong and with purpose for the first 20 minutes as mentioned previously but, they did seem to let Richmond come back into the game slightly and Richmond appeared to control the speed of the game. Agree about the interception as we were going for the BP and this left little time for another attack. First game in to the season and we will become a better outfit. 4 points in the bag.
Attendance was 1374 which I think is disappointing for a Friday night game especially when 3200 turned up to watch the friendly against an Exeter 2nd team.
I believe this to be a decent attendance for a Friday evening as people are working and possibly not getting home till after 5pm. The previous week would be exceptional due to a number of Chief supporters attending the match plus people been on holiday.
