A few changes from the starting XV that ran out against Ealing Trailfinders last Saturday sees Carwyn Penny at full-back, with AJ Cant moving to the left wing in place of the injured Arthur Relton, whilst in the pack Olly Adkins is selected at loose-head prop and Rusiate Tuima returns at number 8.

Hopefully we won't have a wasted trip and the game will go ahead as its been very cold in the North West with temperatures down to -5 overnight.
I expect Caldy to have a much stronger side out than the one they put out in the recent cup match and will be looking to put last weeks defeat to London Scottish behind them.
Fingers crossed the boys can reproduce the form showed in last weeks game against Ealing and get another win on the road.

With the cold snap at present I am surprised the game is taking place in all honesty. the forecast has been freezing all week and documented so I hope the players have not had a wasted journey only to arrange another date. Today in Leicester it has been just on freezing point all day and drops down to minus five, six at night.
If the match does go ahead as mentioned by Pirate 5 I believe we can can come away with a win and keep penalties down pleased.

On a snow covered pitch the pirates started well and took a 14-0 lead after tries by Rauridh Dawson and Shae Tucker. Caldy kicked a penalty as the Pirates lead 14-3 at half time.
The pirates started to concede a number of penalties which allowed the home side to score 2 tries to win the game.
Although the conditions were difficult this is a very disappointing result after last week's performance.

Well done to Caldy on their first home victory in the league this season, you can't give away as many penalties as we did and expect to win. We never seem to learn do we? Season after season we make the same stupid mistakes and it always costs us dear. We can't blame sir all the time, trot out all the excuses you want but for me there is something we can't grasp and it isn't just this year it's almost every year. C 'mon coaches you're in charge get it sorted!! I'm sure the players gave their all as they always do and I thank them for their endeavours, safe trip home everyone.
Listening in on the radio I can't recall us spending any time in their 22 during the second half.
The number of penalties we are conceding needs to be addressed by the coaches. We are slowly being dragged into a fight to stay out of the bottom half of the table. We now have difficult games at home to Doncaster and away to Hartpury before the Christmas break.

Very disappointing - maybe the massive effort against Ealing took its toll and the boys ran out of steam in the second half. Now is the time they need our support - get behind them and make a big noise next Sunday.
Read the info in TRP and as mentioned we have a consistent issue with penalties. If there was extra bonus points for conceding these I am sure we would be top of the league. As stated the coaches really need to get a grip of this as we lose ground to the opposition. Next week against Donny will be interesting and an opportunity to really start to turn the season around.

The issue with penalties is a difficult one. If you are beaten at the scrum, for instance, conceding penalties is almost unavoidable. Then there's a very fine line between getting off the defensive line fast and being slightly too fast in the opinion of the officials. The there's the breakdown - it's a minefield. I've no doubt the coaches are busting a gut to put this right - but it's not as easy as some seem to think.
Set piece penalties are one thing but its the number of needless infringements that in my opinion are the real problem.
These are often down to bad decision making around the breakdown by individual players. It could be down to inexperience for some but this is where the senior players need to step in.
In my opinion it often occurs when players are put under pressure in either defence or attack and make bad decisions resulting in a penalty.
I can remember after the Ampthill game Gavin Cattle saying that too many players were going ' off script' which resulted in errors and loss of possession by either being turned over or conceeding penalties.
We have played 6 games since that match and our penalty count is still far too high.
These are often down to bad decision making around the breakdown by individual players. It could be down to inexperience for some but this is where the senior players need to step in.

Paves comments after the game reflect that, P15. He says that John Stevens is a great leader but we need more leaders to step up. They are trying to develop that, but I guess it'll take time. All very frustrating for everyone. The pressure is mounting now - we really need a big performance against Donny.
