JSD - ankle injury

Typical … Gloucester break an Adams Park hoodoo, produce a performance that suggests their away-day problems just might be a thing of the past and earn a result that pushes them into the Premiership top four. But the joy is tempered by a serious-looking injury to match-winner James Simpson-Daniel.

Nothing is ever simple.
The winger has been in form described by team-mates as world-class this season, so the sight of him being stretchered off with an ankle injury was just as hard to take for them as it was for the cherry and white fans.
The injury is being assessed, but there’s a collective finger-crossing going on at Kingsholm in the hope that it’s not too serious.
He had demonstrated his class by scoring the only try of one of those games which is typical of top-class club rugby in this country as two teams tried to master the juicy conditions as well as the opposition.
Dave Walder scored three pens for Wasps to keep them in the game, but Sinbad’s first-half try was the real difference between the teams, Nicky Robinson converting the try and notching a pen of his own to nudge Glaws home.
“I am delighted with that performance. We were very good in the first half when our decision-makers were very clear, very positive,” coach Bryan Redpath told the BBC.
"The second half was less impressive and I'll be having a word with our backs about a few things concerning playing in those conditions. But the way we handled the last 10 minutes overall was excellent.
"James Simpson-Daniel took a bang above his ankle, but hopefully he'll be back in action soon. Otherwise we have a lot to be pleased about."
Perhaps top of that list is the fact that Glaws ground out an away win at a venue they have always found difficult, and pack coach Carl Hogg was just as pleased as Redpath.
He told the club website: "We haven't been great on the road in the Premiership over the past couple of years and it's something we've pinpointed and we've identified places like Adams Park as places where we have to come and front up, especially in conditions like they were today.
"I thought we were very accurate tactically in the first half and we used the conditions well and got our structure right.
"We got a little bit loose in the second half and gave them opportunities to hold high field position that led to two or three of their penalties.
"We have struggled in the past to adapt to conditions as we are a movement side, but conditions were never going to allow that tonight."
Sinbad’s try and Robinson’s kicks took the honours, but this was a team effort if ever there was one and all in cherry and white deserve their share of the credit.
Friday night at home to a London Irish side desperate for a result after their heavy LV Cup defeat at Kingsholm a couple of weeks ago will be another stern test for the "new" Glaws – with or without JSD.
