So what does 2017 have in store for the Cherry and White faithful? New owner? The return of Phillipe Sr Andre? An ability to win games where we are plainly the best team?

It may well be that all three come to pass with , perhaps, the latter the most welcome.

Word has it that Mohed Altrad's takeover has been given the nod by the authorities, and that would see St Andre and a few France based backroom staff move in.

They'd inherit a squad heavy with talent but with  a strange inability to make class and possession tell.

Once agin we let a win slip out of our hands withh an annoying penalty try giving Saints that unlikely 12-13 win.

 Don't blame the poffcials who are as vulnerable to TV replay analysis as anyone.The laws have it that if you go go for a try saving interception and fail you will go to the bin and incur a penaltry try. That's what happened to David Halaifonua in the dying minutes. He went to catch the ball, and if he had done so he would have been a hero. It wasn't a slap down.

We'd led 9-0 at the break thanks to Burns' penalties and lookied by fat the better outfit. That's not the firsdt time we've said that.
