Saders again linked with shock swoop for Brian Noble

Noble in?!

Press speculation continues to link the Celtic Crusaders with an audacious swoop for Wigan Warriors boss Brian Noble. Reports in the People suggest that the Saders will swoop for Noble over the close season with the former Great Britain coach’s future at the DW Stadium less than certain.

John Dixon has been at the helm since the club was founded four years ago - and spearheaded the club's dramatic rise from National League Two to the Super League.

However, Cru have struggled in their first season amongst the sport's European elite; prompting rumours that a new manager could be installed for the 2010 campaign.

Speculation suggests that Dixon could be moved into a player development role and that the club will look to appoint household name Noble as their new manager.

Whilst such speculation doesn't quite fit with reports of the club's financial irregularities, chief executive Mike Turner was coy on a potential management change for next summer on the recent Crusaders Real Radio special.

Noble's Wigan contract expires in November - and the 48-year-old has never quite fulfilled his potential with the Lancashire outfit and, though the Warriors look set to seal a play-off spot next season, the club may change their manager later in the year. Speculation has already linked Wigan with an approach for New Zealand head coach Stephen Kearney.

Bradford-born former player spent six years on the backroom staff of the Bulls before being appointed Head Coach in 2001. He led the Odsal club to three Grand Final triumphs, three World Club Championships and a Challenge Cup crown and also coached Great Britain between 2004 and January 2007.

He joined Wigan in 2006 - and, despite surviving a relegation scare in his first season, has never fully won over the Warriors faithful.

Noble's current Wigan contract reportedly expires in November - and he is also thought to be attracting interest from the Catalans Dragons. A move to South Wales would mark a major and surprise coup for the club.
