The Scorpions went down by 14 points in a tough clash up at Workington on Sunday afternoon. The final result was 38-24.

In Cumbria Darren Holt kicked 14 points for Workington as they beat South Wales Scorpions 38-24. Workington Town came out on top 6-4 in the try count as Kris Coward, Jamie Marshall, Scott Kaighan, Brett Carter, Neil Frazer and Patrick Coupar all scored for the home side.

Loz Wildbore, Andrew Gay, Steve Parry and Aled Jones all ran in tries for the South Wales Scorpions.

Scorpions coach Anthony Seibold said: "We were outplayed by Workington today, they were a lot more physical than us. They also played to the conditions better than us, it was very windy and they played a good kicking game. They deserved to win, it would have been great to have obtained a bonus point but at the end of the day I don't think we deserved it. We have to go back to training now and work hard for the Blackpool game next Saturday, hopefully we'll have a few of our injured players back for that one. Having six or seven first choice players out in a competition of this quality really hurt us today."
