Blackpool match preview

The South Wales Scorpions make the trip to sunny Blackpool on Saturday hoping to keep their play-off hopes on track. Anthony Seibold's side were beaten at Workington last weekend - reducing hopes of a top seven finish for the fledgling Welshmen.

The Panthers will be firm favourites to win the game after impressing the pundits with nine wins from their opening nine contests.

However, Seibold's XIII will be boosted by Blackpool's recent dip in form - which has seen the Lancastrian club slip to third in the table.

South Wales are eight points behind Blackpool - but victory would help the eighth-placed Scorpions close the gap on the Panthers and boost their hopes of a play-off finish.

The Scorpions will be without Lee Williams, Jamie Murphy and Aled James for the seaside trip.

Seibold has said that "travelling on the day of the game" will not help his side for the daunting trip to Blackpool; but he hopes his players will give a "better account" of themselves after the disappointing defeat in Cumbria last weekend.

Come on you Scorps!
