As we look forward to the semi finals of the Rugby League World Cup this coming weekend, we also reflect on the Welsh exit from the tournament which promised so much but for the Dragons failed to deliver. Fiji join the "big three" Australia, New Zealand and England in the last four but Wales did not even make the quarter finals after losing all three games in the group stages.

Much has been written about building for the future and fans of the game in South Wales are the most positive in the game - albeit small in number. However losing all three games was a body blow and as the team were expected to progress to see USA and Scotland fare so well was an indication of what might have been. 

The tournamnet has been a tremendous success and crowds have been large and enthusiastic reflecting sensible ticket prices and good locations.  England are flying the flag for the northern hemisphere and it would be great for the gaame in the UK if they could get to the final and put up a strong performance at Old Trafford. However, New Zealan at Wembley on Sunday is a very tough call. 

The England game is the first of the double header at Wembley and is on national free to view tv on BBC 1 - kick off is at 1.30pm

All the games in the tournament  have been shown live by Premier Sports who will show both semi finals on Saturday.
