The 2014 season came to a close with a 6-50 defeat at the hands of Hunslet Hawks on Sunday 7th September in the sunshine at Mountain Ash RUFC. the scoreline flatters the promotion chasing visitors, who, whilst a stronger outfit did enjoy the "rub of the green" and finished very strongly to make the game look more one sided than it actually was.
The match was played at our fourth venue in South Wales this season, after other matches on the road at Blackwood (twice) and Cardiff Arms Park. Maesteg has only hosted six home league games in 2014 and it has certainly been an added experience watching the club at different venues this season.
The team spirit appears to be strong and whilst we have only two league victories in the record books, we have picked up a number of bonus points reflecting how close we came in a number of matches and hopefully we can build on this for next season.
The crowd at Mountain Ash was over 300, swelled by a good number from Yorkshire. The sunshine helped the end of season atmosphere too.
