August 26 2005

If you could............. Reading Fatboy - Chris Tampsett
Relive any 'non-sports related' moment in your life, what would it be and why? The last time I saw my dad before he died. This time, I would give him a big hug and tell him how much I loved him.
Enjoy a 'champagne moment' again in your career which one would it be and why?

I am a sales and marketing guy through and through. And I am lucky enough to have been quite successful. A couple of years ago I landed a sale worth Äuros 100M. The feeling when the order comes through on the fax is quite awesome, the feeling when the commission payment comes through is also pretty good.

Enjoy a 'champagne moment' again in sport which one would it be and why?

Personally it would have to be winning the national inter area Basketball championships for Sussex, with basically the team which was made up of me and a load of mates who I went to school with. For sheer class it is the night in Las Vegas when Iron Mike destroyed Frank Bruno in two rounds. The MGM arena was full of Brits, and although Tyson was awesome, after the fight was stopped , all you could hear were the Bruno supporters singing ďyou ate all the piesĒ

Not be asked one question for the rest of your life what would it be?

Can you sign this order off please. (always means that the person hasnít got the nuts to sign it off themselves and are delegating upwards to me). In turn that means we will probably make a loss on the deal.

Be a celebrity for the day who would you be?

Without a shadow of a doubt, I would be Bill Clinton. That man is a shining example to all men. I would spend all day learning as much as I could from the experience, and then use the knowledge to be very bad and enjoy the rest of my life.

Be a sports star for the day who would it be? Sugar Ray Leonard in his heyday. Simply the best boxer the world has ever seen, also a thoroughly nice, and Erudite man. Iíll never forget his fights with Marvellous Marvin Hagler. Boxing at itís very best. Brutal Bestial and Beautiful all at once.
Have dinner with 4 people from the past or present who would they be? Attilla the Hun, Genghis Khan, Adolf Hitler, and Joseph Stalin. What a bundle of laughs that would be. They could have a pissing contest about who was the baddest. Me? Iíd just get on the pink top Guinness, sit back and enjoy.
Witness one event from history what would it be?

George W Bushís conception, I would urge George senior and Barbara to exercise some self control.

Go back in time and give advice to a 13 year old Chris Tampsett what would it be? Just do it!
Win any sporting event in the world what would it be?

Heavyweight boxing World championship. (Not now, but in the days when it meant something because there were guys like Ali and Frazier around)

Try out a new sport what would it be?

7ís rugby for normal thin blokes. ( the only 7ís I have ever played is FB7ís)

Have one extravagance what would it be? The Duchy of Cornwall
Only ever eat one meal again what would it be?

Brocolli and Stilton Soup with Focaccia bread

Roast Saddle of Lamb with Mint and Rosemary, Roast Potatoes (In Lard), Leeks, Cauliflower in Cheese sauce, Mange touts and lashings of gravy.

Chocolate Bread and Butter pudding with cointreau custard.

Stilton with mango and ginger and hovis crackers.Bottle of good Margaux and a bottle of hardies Sauvignan blanc

Live anywhere else in the world where would it be? Any Agean island. ( the less populated the better)
Support any other Rugby Club which would it be and why? Beneton Treviso. Home is where the heart is
Tell us a claim to fame what would it be?

I went to school with Greta Scachi!!! If she had ever agreed to go out with me on any of the 30miliion times I asked her then I could indeed now be Mr. Scachi

See into the future what do you expect to be doing in 10 years time?

Not a fat lot. If everything goes to plan I will be retired. One of my ambitions from many years ago was to take up triathlon again when I retire from Work and try to represent GB in the age groups. Still fancy doing that. Will quite likely be living on a greek island during the English winter so will have to support LI from a distance.

Only ever drink one drink again what would it be?

A glass of Hardyís Sauvignon Blanc

Do any other job other than your current one what would it be? My first ever job was deckchair attendant on Brighton Beach. I absolutely loved it, and apart from the fact that no one wants deckchairs in the winter I might well still be doing it now. If I was to get made redundant tomorrow, that would be my first career choice.
Change one thing about yourself what would it be?

Get 20:20 eyesight again. The one single thing that gets up my arse about getting old is having to wear glasses

Buy one player from past or present to play in London Irish colours who would it be?

No brainer

Past would be Gareth Edwards. Simply the best rugby player ever to have trodden the earth.

Present would be Josh Lewsey. Currently the best player in the world. Wasps are so lucky to have him.
