GKIPA Championship - 2014/5 Week 4

Iffy start to the season? Two misfires followed by a vast improvement? Looking for a win on the fourth weekend of the season? Stop me if you've heard all this before, 'cos this is Bedford, our guests this coming weekend. With just scraps of bonus points on the board, both teams will be desperate to post a "W" on Saturday and put some clear water between them and the bottom. Last year we traded away wins; ours distinguished by Shanners kicking the only drop goal of the campaign. With a fair weather forecast, there isn't an awful lot in it. Sticking to the game plan and staying on the right side of the ref(s) could be all the difference.

There are no more "blues" puns left to describe the crisis of confidence that prevails at Goldington Road at present. They are a team in transition, struggling to come to terms with a semi-pro set-up. Just like us a few years back, the team are not performing and the fans are not happy with things across the board. Their club-run fans forum was shut down last year, the old guard has left and the new arrivals are still settling in. The management philosophy is not apparent or understood, leading to regular calls for heads on sticks (or at least one in particular...). And to top it all, The Cricketers has shut as well! Bedford fronted up well to the league leaders at the weekend and came away with 2 bonus points, so they shouldn't be seen as an easy target.

First up is the "clash of the (non) titans" as Scottish travel down the M4 to Bristol - the diametric opposite of our fixture. Both teams are unbeaten this term and looking to preserve that record. Too close to call? Jersey, who had a bonus win over Moseley last weekend, will have to put in a performance similar to ours against Roth who themselves will have had plenty to ponder in training. The Worcester and Yorks games are both against broadly similar opposition in terms of league performance - home advantage to carry it? Lastly, the Pirates will be desperate for something (anything?) as they aim to break the duck.

A very good crowd of 7454 apparently Stonehouse. I don't think Scottish will be top 4 though. Gonna be Wuss, Briz, Leeds and Roth.

Maybe people believe we are better than we are on paper .

But on the field of play were it matters is a long way off .

If you cannot beat the teams predicted below you then you can only end up below them .

Four games in and L.S away next will be a quarter of the league season passed .

A lot to do to get off the basement trapdoor and Albion are struggling with their shape and playing as a team rather than individuals .
