Graham Dawe talks about the season so far.  

 

At the Sponsors and Members presentation prior to travelling to Otley Graham spoke about the season and his and the clubs thoughts about the rugby at Plymouth Albion.

Graham opened by saying that we had lost a few players since last season that we would still have liked to be playing for us now. When he had come back to Plymouth, where he was born, in 97 he new that he was there for the long haul and that the club has now moved itself from the bottom of the National Leagues to towards the top of National League One. We now need to make steady progress to make that next step.

Plymouth deserves a good rugby team and the club want to use as many as possible local players to achieve this.  Graham wants to develop a unique identity and style of how to play rugby so that we take the officials out of the game and the referee has nothing to blow up for.

The two key things he likes to see in a new player is fitness and speed Graham went on to say that the skill comes second. Also that there is no substitute for hard work and he has seen potential Albion players move on at the beginning of a season because they are not ready for the hard training.

The plea went out to think of the players when we see them make mistakes, they need our support and that whilst they all have brains all the energy expelled on the pitch sometimes starves the brain of blood.  The players appreciate the support that they get not only from the supporters on match days but also the City and feel good about playing for Albion.

When questioned from the floor as to plans for signing for next season Graham seemed confident that he could keep the players he needs to but that the most important thing is that they have got to want to play for Albion.
