Coventry Rugby team announced to face Fylde.

The Coventry squad to take on Fylde at the BPA on Saturday has just been confirmed.
It shows two changes in the starting line up from the side which lost at Richmond, both in the forwards. Nico Steenkamp returns at loose head prop for Andy Brown, and at number 7 in the back row, Liam Munro makes his first full start since December displacing Jamie Harrop.
On the bench , winger Tom Harris, missing with a leg injury for a couple of matches makes a welcome return.

I'm a little surprised at Jamie harrop being dropped, but I suppose you have to utilise the squad as best you can. It will be interesting to see how good or bad the condition of the pitch will be, especially after the last home game, what a mud bath that was!
Strong Fylde squad chosen too. Two players missing - centre Scott Barrow who suffered a badly cut leg playing for England Counties a week ago, and openside Steve McGinnis who is unavailable.

Im looking forward to my first game for nearly 2 months due to hols, bad weather and away games! my last game was away to lough!! lets hope its a bit warmer than that one!!!

seeing we have just had two defeats thought we may see a change in the team,with the likes of herrington,otutaha and toft showing up well in the recent nighthawks game,or has it become a bit of a closed shop
It's a great thing surely to have a choice of players, after the struggles of previous seasons. To be able to have top back-up in all positions is a testament to the Board, Coaches and general management of the club. Onwards and upwards. C'MON COV.
Part of the point i was making about the under 20s players on the bench was linked into question i posed on henley team thread.That is what happens to them once they live Henley and who do they go and play for, what level.Im a strong advocate for a conveyor belt system of players, but already some of these players are seeking game time away from the city and other rugby clubs.
The basic fault in this is no regular second team. This allows players to learn the game or style of play that the coaching staff see fit. Again it is down to COST. On another thread about season tickets I have put forward about paying early. We have some decent players loaned out, Andy Murray for one. Who I rate as a good multi position player, This is the exact type of player who could thrive in second team or first team positions. I/we do not have a magic wand to help this in practice.

Send them to Broadstreet! :-) get us into Nat 2 and that would give your players a higher level so it's not a bigger leap when they go back to Cov.
What about doing what Fylde did, diverting resources from the 1sts to the 2nd team, paying a coach, maybe some expenses to young players we wanted to retain to help them get back from universities etc to play in the competitive NW 2nd team league? We really had no other option. Although most established players who are temporarily out of the 1sts for whatever reason don't want to drop down to the 2nds, a few do, if only to get serious match time. A difficult area but I gather that your 1st team playing budget is sufficient to cut some out and invest in the 2nds.
