I WOULD first like to thank the loyal supporters who travelled up to Sedgley Park last Saturday. It was a very disappointing day for players and fans alike.

As a playing group we know the last three results have not been acceptable and we are letting the coaches down as well as the fans.

Saturday’s performance showed signs of improvement in many areas of the game but yet again we had no territory, especially no sustained periods of pressure inside the opposition 22.

This has become a concern as when we do get in the scoring zone we usually come away with points but this doesn’t occur often enough.

We are clearly spending a lot of time playing around the halfway line and our basic skills and discipline are just not good enough at the moment.

We are two leagues away from Premiership Rugby and I don’t believe the coaches should be having to teach us how to pass and catch at this level. Their job is to structure our plays and game plan, which we are not executing at the moment either.

Again we conceded far too many penalties, which releases pressure on the opposition, and usually results in them having a lineout deep inside our half. We then have to defend and clear our lines.

We are working very hard every week but after looking at the game and being completely honest, I feel we are playing in the wrong areas of the field.

You only have to look at the HC games over the weekend to see rugby is a battle for field position. Not only does that relieve pressure off ourselves but puts pressure on the opposition to execute their game.

An honest appraisal. But saying they are playing in the wrong half of the field is a bit like saying the b------g obvious. The side that scores the most points will win?
