The result was never in doubt. With Westcountry Warriors coming away with a 24 point to nil win over Graham Dawe’s first rugby team, Launceston, on his 47^th birthday.

Two tries for Andy Williams, one for Darren Ritchie and nine kicking points to David Delaney.

On quick succession Warriors were penalised on one side of the pitch for jumping before the ball was put in at the lineout and within minutes gave away a penalty for pulling down at the lineout.

On 14 minutes, after a penalty awarded against Launceston for holding onto the ball and a kick for touch by David.  The Warriors worked the catch and drive move well allowing Andy Williams to score his first try of the match. With David converting the try from two metres in from the left hand touchline.

Just two minutes later, with the ball being played along the line Darren Ritchie broke through went over the line before placing the ball under the posts.  As if time mattered and they were playing sevens David drop kicked the conversion from just 5 metres out.

Launceston must have realised by this time that they had to start playing and with a member of their coaching staff shouting instructions from under the posts they tried a break through themselves but gave away a scrum in from of the Warriors posts by knocking on.

The rest of the first half and indeed the rest of the match was less exiting as Warriors were leaking penalties, Launceston would take advantage only to be blocked by the strong defence.  The half time score was 14 points to nil.

Eight minutes into the second half and with a penalty being awarded to the Warriors in the centre of the park David took the only penalty kick at the posts in the match. Just four minutes later, and the final score of the match, Andy Williams broke off the driving maul to score 10 metres in from right hand side. With his 100% record David converted the try.

In the fading light the match appeared to fade away too and it seemed that the crowd of around 150 were urging the referee to blow up for full time.

Jon Fabian had a good match playing his first of the season, David Delaney had a 100% kicking performance, Andy Williams played a great game coming away with 10 points.  The Warriors defended well but at times lacked the attack that would have given them the 50 points win it look as though they were going to get from the first quarter.
