Nic Sestaret scoops the alllbion player of the season after his record breaking record performance.  

alllbion Player of the Season 2006/7

 

Nic Sestaret took an early lead in the voting and retained the lead despite a late flourish of voting for Chris Lowrie.

Whilst other players featured in the voting the top four were Nic, Chris Lowrie, Ed Lewsey and Tom Hayes.

Nic was presented with a silver plated photo frame award after the last match of the season against Leeds.

Some of the reasons given by voters for putting Nic number one were:-

Consistently makes ground with his direct running.

all the great play of Freddie and Chris still needs someone to score the points!

A very committed individual who brings a spark and a heart stopping moment with ball in hand

has been outstanding this year

Some individuals have put his success down to his lucky shorts which he had modified with a couple of cuts to make them more comfortable and easier to run in. The shorts started the season off brilliant white like the rest of the team but seem to have got duller as the season progressed.

 

Just for the record 

Nic now holds the club record for tries in a league match and jointly holds most points in a league match.  He was top try scorer in National League One this year and holds the all time record with 28. Scoring 3 hat tricks including 5 tries against Moseley must have helped his records!

He started all league matches and has only been replaced once. He also started all 4 EDF Energy National Trophy matches scoring a further 2 tries in these matches. Meaning that with league and cup matches he scored a try every 1.133 matches!

Dan voted for Nic with only hours to spare but won the voters draw and a copy of the award presented to alllbion player of the season 2006/7 Nic Sestaret. Dan has been following Albion for a number of seasons and chose Nic due to the number of tries he had scored.
