Three alllbion sponsored players

Mark, Jamie & Danny

By Frank Stormont
June 18 2008

Danny Thomas is back and sponsored by the website! Also Mark Lee joins the club and Jamie is here to stay. Be part of this deal, join the photo shoot on Thursday evening 6:30 at the club.

The alllbion three

Mark Lee, Jamie Tripconey and Danny Thomas are now officially sponsored by the un-official website.

With a step up from last season the website has now sponsored three players.

Danny still holds the club record for most league appearances, took a season away from Albion when he moved to Taunton RFC as player coach. He returned to Plymouth at the beginning of this year when he took a job at the Herald, a job he left t the end of last week to enable him to return to Brickfields on a full time basis. Whilst Danny's main role will be as coach he will be available for selection.

Jamie was sponsored by the website last season and we are proud to continue that support. A flexible player that has made most of his 20 Warriors appearances in the second role sees his future as a flanker. He played his part in Devon's route to Twickenham. He will be looking at competing for a place in the first team squad this coming season.

Mark did feature in three matches for the Warriors at the end of this season but has now been contracted to the club for the coming season. Coming from Ivybridge College he has impressive speed. He is a flexible back  that can play in a number of positions but would prefer to play in the centre. This season he has also featured in both Devon U20 and the full Devon side.

Whilst a lot of money has already been pledged we are still some way short of funds needed so if you have not already contacted me and would to be part of this deal please email or private message me.

I had to greatly restrict the number of sponsors at the official photo shoot but have arranged an opportunity for a mass photo shoot on Thursday 19th June at 6:30pm. Everyone who has already pledged or is thinking about doing so is welcome to attend. Please remember this is not a meet the players but an opportunity to have a photo taken with as many sponsors as possible.

I hope to raise money from a Alllbion 10s competition that will be launched in mid August and also from the two match shirts from this season.  Stay tuned for details.

We are pleased and proud to have seen Mark Lee develop through the age group teams at Crediton. Mark is not only a fine player with huge potential but is also a fine young man who still comes and helps with the coaching of the junior teams at the club. We wish him every success along with your other 'Kirton' boy Kyle Marriot.

Lets hope that unlike certain other senior clubs in the county, Albion nurture the local talent and give them enough game time to develop.
Good luck for the coming season.

Thanks for the info Eddie.

We need to give our local lads a chance to shine in their local team. I don't think there would be much point in the youngsters taking up the game in the first place otherwise.

So lets hope these lads can do themselves and the southwest proud. (Sm128)

Yes, Eddie, thanx for that. It's nice to know that the young local lads come to Albion with the blessing of their "junior" clubs who maintain an interest in their careers -- and Kyle skippered Devon this last year.

What goes around comes around --- see you're getting "young" Wayne Reed back -- ex Albion, Pirates and Lanson.
