Round 11: Albion v Rotherham

Next Up, Albion welcome the league leaders Rotherham to Brickfields.

This will, undoubtably, be a difficult game for Albion who finally return to home territory for the first time in 4 weeks. The Titans win over Blackheath last week not only moved them ahead of Rosslyn Park, but also enabled Albion to recover 3rd place after their impressive win against 5th placed Rams.

Curiously, Albion and the Titans have both scored and conceded almost the same number of tries with Albion edging it on both counts. It seems that the Titans prefer to score more through the backs than through the forwards, and it may be that Albion's pack will have the better game. As with the Rams last week, the defence will need to be resilient and watchful, particularly of a sniping scrum half.

Albion will need to keep their discipline, to prevent giving the opposition easy progress to attacking positions. The Titans themselves are very disciplined having incurred only 3 yellow cards this season. However, opportunities may present themselves to Albion as it appears that Titans defence weakens towards the end of each half.

A close game can be expected which is in line with the previous 5 encounters between the sides which have all been within 7 points, the last of which saw Albion hold on for a 23-20 win.

Player to watch - Morgan Veness. The 23 year old former Welsh U20 hooker joined the Titans from Cambridge at the start of the season and has scored on 8 occasions this season.

Weather - Heavy overnight rain will give way to sunny intervals by the start of the game. A gentle breeze will blow from the entrance gate corner. Temperatures will be cold but not as cold as the week gone.

Prediction: Could go either way - Albion at a pinch especially with a large home crowd backing them.

Other games of note: Blackheath (4th) v Sedgley Park (7th) - 8 points separate the sides, with both sides showing a little inconsistency. A win for the Tigers would help Albion out a lot.
