Quins travelled away to North London searching for a second victory of their league campaign. With a strong side on show the Quins were confident, but were surprised to find Millhillians warming up 2 hours in advance of kick off. After just 40 seconds, OMs were clearly not warm as simple hands down the Quins back line allowed Andy Edwards to score in the corner.
Almost immediately from the re-start the Ams were back in the home side’shalf and kicked a penalty through Graeme Tew for an 8 nil lead.
The game moved from end to end with neither team having the upper handfor the rest of the first half. OMs scored two penalties and Quins one in theperiod before half time leaving a narrow lead for the Ams.
Second half, the Ams scored early through Mike McGowan in the centresbut within two minutes managed to concede to an overlap out wide. The home sidedug deep and scored a drop goal before the sides exchanged a further penaltykick each. With 10 minutes remaining Quins extended their lead, following amix-up in defence, Dave Salomon scored the game’s final try.
Next week Quins attention turns to a local derby versus Teddington inthe RFU Junior Vase.
