Struggling Glamour Club Harlequins must rouse themselves this weekend to face an on-form Wycombe side, who haven't lost on a Sunday since 2019.

Wycombe, currently lying mid-table in Pool B will present quite a challenge for Quins even without their talismanic Brazilian flanker Nero, called up to play for his country against Iceland in a pre-world cup friendly.

Quins will be led out for the first time by their charismatic new captain, Clark Kent, super-hero just a fortnight ago, but now freshly recovered from the brush with Old-World Kryptonite that rendered his side so ineffectual for 40 minutes last week. They will be looking for a solid victory to catapult them into a fair to middling place in a tight league table.

Quins fans, the embittered Diamond Piranhas will be watching the performance of the team closely, and cheering politely in suitable breaks in the play (softly so as not to put-off the Thames Valley visitors).  Prediction: Something's cooking in the pack for Quins.

Storm in a Tea Cup?

Meanwhile Quins are apparently  quite unable to escape the mascot problems that have plagued them all this season.   Last week their popular, but harmless comedy duo Kwip and Prod fell foul of their own union, the International Mascots Board when they failed to make themselves available for Important Mascots Showcase against the Kiwi Coolies.

A fellow mascot, and spokesman for the hapless pair, Perry Go! Go! explained  "Unfortunately the IMB simply failed to provide the necessary 14 days notice so Prod and Kwip were perfectly entitled stay at home and rouse the rabble at Quins as normal. If the IMB can't follow their own rules they've only themselves to blame"

The unfortunate pair were summoned last week to Mascot House where the chief mascot asked Kanga the Kangaroo to convene a special court to hear the pleadings.   The case is now in it's 145th day, although it seems longer.  Reporting restrictions most certainly apply.
