New Boss for Quins

Laurie Dalrymple

November 12 2019

We have a new man at the helm in the shape of former Wolverhampton Wanderers Chief Exec Laurie Dalrymple..

Dalrymple left Wolves in July after four-and-a-half years at the club amid rumours of a breakdown in the relationship between him and chairman Jeff Shi and the Molineux board, and has now moved into the sport which he has regularly spoke of his passion for.

"While I've worked in football most recently, rugby has always been my passion," he told the club website.

“Harlequins is one of the best known brands in club rugby and I can’t wait to help it realise its potential.”

Dalrymple has a wealth of experience on his side having been the executive director at the Ricoh Arena and international sales director at global event producer EMAP before becoming managing director at Wolves.

Harlequins are currently tenth in the Premiership and just two points ahead of Leicester Tigers, but Dalrymple comes to the club knowing that he was instrumental in Wolves’ transformation from a struggling Championship club to a well-established and Europe-searching Premier League side with a significantly increased turnover for the club including a number of record sponsorship deals.

In his time at the club he helped in the transition from previous owner Steve Morgan to current owners Fosun.
In fact, Dalrymple was a greatly popular figure at the Midlands club, visiting fans in pubs and famously buying a round of drinks in Wolves' promotion season in 2017-18.

And, Quins will be hoping that Dalrymple can have the same effect off the field at the Twickenham Stoop with supporters frustrated at the lack of results in the first four games of the season.

Quins chairman David Morgan praised outgoing chief executive David Ellis who has left his role after eight years at the club.

"I would again also like to thank David Ellis (Harlequins' outgoing chief executive) for all his dedication, hard work and achievements over the past eight years."
Harlequins are in action this weekend at Clermont Auvergne in the European Champions Cup and you can find all the latest Rugby Union free bet offers with Bet and Skill.
